I am still phone-less. Which super-sucks, but at the same time, is oddly freeing. But not so freeing that I don't want my damn phone back! Fingers crossed for replacement's arrival today!
Anyhoo, I thought during this interim, I'd answer any questions ya'll might have, fashion or otherwise. A note, however: if your question is "Why do you do such a stupid thing as taking pictures of yourself in the bathroom? Are you the world's vainest human being or something?", then I suggest you take a gander at the sidebar and "click the chick" to see how this little experiment got started. And if you still think its all a ruse to fish for compliments from strangers, then maybe reading Daily Fashion Blogs isn't for you, mmmmmmmmmmm'kay?
Awesome Possum! I'll go ahead and dive right in with a question from Shannon over at More Wine Please who I kind of adore:
Does anyone in your firm read your blog?
Does anyone in your firm read your blog?
I don't openly advertise that I have a blog, to anyone really. I'm extremely close with my parents and felt comfortable sharing EA's existence with them and some other family members but very few relatives know about EA and/or read it with any regularity. My close friends read pretty often (I think?) but I didn't tell them about my new endeavor until months after I began writing online. As far as work colleagues go, there are several that know EA exists, either because they were friends before we began work or because they saw the piece on which I contributed in the Style section of the Dallas Morning News. The good news? All these "in-the-know" coworkers are men. They hear the words "Style Blog" (which is not really a full / apt description of EA, but whatevs) and their eyes glaze over. As far as I know, none of them have ever visited EA or even know the URL. Consequently, no one from work has visited this new little blog. Exception to the Rule: a co-worker who "came out of the blog-closet" to me in regards to his own public journaling (shout-out to BB!), and, since one good turn deserves another, EA is now in his Reader as well. Which means someone at work now knows exactly how shallow and ninny-headed I really am! Sweetness!
In all seriousness... would I want everyone I work with to know I have a blog(s)? Nope. Its a hobby like anything else - something I do on my own time that I like to keep (relatively) to myself - not because its scandalous or career-jeopardizing, but because I need some fun time!
My boss knows about mine via facebook. (which is a whole other issue.) I used to hate that she knew everything, but I have slowly gotten over it. I don't want everyone in my office to know it exists.
ReplyDeleteJust found this! I love it! You are too funny and FABULOUS! LOVE it.
ReplyDeleteI agree about not wanting everyone to know, at first I kept my blog a total secret, and then the PBF started being snarky about it at a dinner with his family... so I ever so discretely shared the link via Facebook... only a few people who I know in real life read it, and I like it that way.
ReplyDeleteI openly admit that my blog is my space to be shallow, and silly... I need that in a way that I didn't realize before I started blogging.
OMG I so agree about people at work and the blog. I can relate, somewhat. I work at a news station on the news desk. I cover politics, murder, community issues etc. I NEED an outlet where I can dream about the latest fashion or when I was planning my wedding or talk about the trips with my news husband etc. I think I would die if my co-workers read my blog. Journalists and bloggers- they dont all get along. I think they'd laugh in my face. Glad to know someone feels the same!

ReplyDeleteI recently had to come out of the "closet" when one of my coworkers stumbled across my blog. I don't think my place of employement cares so much as long as I don't mention their name and
ReplyDeleteI don't blog while I'm at work.
As for friends & fam I have told a couple of people. Most find it amusing.
Wow! My first shout out on a fashion blog! And apparently all I had to do was steal your phone to get props.
ReplyDeleteAww thanks for getting to that for me!
ReplyDeleteSome people at my office found out about my blog... and read it first thing every morning.. (I can see them on my statcounter)... otherwise, I would love to take photo's in the bathroom with you! LOVE IT!
I know you're a gilt and Rue La La fan, but did you know about Row Nine and One Kings Lane. Row Nine is similar to guilt and One Kings Lane does fantastic sales on luxury home goods... drop by my blog or email me at danimjo@aol.com and I'll send you an invitation if you're interested!
ReplyDeleteI have a question - how do the J.Crew shoes with patent-covered heels hold up to a lot of wear. I love a lot of the shoes that you wear, but walk a lot as part of my commute and fear that I would end up with gouges in the patent on the heels from sidewalk grates and other urban shoe hazards.
