for shame

Let's get one thing straight before we dive right into my shame-spiral... I don't DO Jeggings.  I fully embraced the skinny jeans and the leggings last year... booties won me over in 2009 after two years of internal struggle... and last week I succumbed to a pair of (NON HOOKER) over-the-knee boots.  But I stand firm in my stance against Jeggings.

Or, denim-colored jeggings, that is.

Because, you see, when you have a coupon for a free pair of jeans that is about to expire and all your little heart desires is a pair of GAP Always Skinnies in Black, but all three stores you visit happen to be out of black Skinnies (in EVERY size), you can be forced to take drastic measures.

Drastic Measures = Black "Jeggings"... WHICH, I am not even counting as "jeggings" because they have a working zipper and button - the Hallmark of a true jegging being it's purely pull-on style.

I prefer to think of them as psuedo-pixie-pants a la J.Crew Fall 2009, thankyouverymuch.  Or, just black skinny pants.  Which is exactly what they look like.  OKAY?!

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

You fell victim. Though I do agree that if you *have* to do a "jegging" at least you chose black ones with a zipper and button.

    I still love you.

  2. I think they look cute.! At least you can pull them off, I can't even do a skinny jean. The boo-tay will not allow it, sadly. Also, love the black and white top.

  3. Those were just delivered to me and are in a box on my office floor. They look great on you! I have to say, if you can pull them off at work, surely they cannot be jeggings. Jeggings would not be work appropriate. :) Pixie pants it is!

I have high hopes that they will look simiarly cigarette pant-ish on me and not like the dreaded jeggings. Also hoping getting them in black will disguise the jiggly bits. Fingers crossed!

  4. I have to admit that I own a pair of jeggings. They have a zipper. AND they were only $21.80 from XXI, so I don't feel bad about spending a lot of money on them. I loved them last winter with yummy sweaters and tall boots. I don't know what I would do without all my skinny jeans and leggings. It's all I wear anymore...they just go with more shoes.

  5. You look adorable!! I, too, will be forsaking the "jegging" trend this season, but I'm a total SkinnyBlackPantWhore so I think I might have to pick a pair of these up! I always want the JCrew Pixie/Minnie pants to work on me but they just..don't. B/c I'm not 12 or an Asian. But that's neither here nor there.

I bought the Gap Groupon specifically b/c I wanted to try the jeans you always rave about. If they're good enough for Kate's derriere, they're good enough for mine too. ;-)

  6. I hate jeggings too. Last year when they came out I was all "gosh people who wear jeggings are generally unfortunate. I would never wear those." But then I was in Ann Taylor Loft this week and I tried some on. Theirs have a zipper and normal looking pockets. I think they look like super skinny jeans - much like the "pixie pants" you're rocking.

I haven't been brave enough to wear them yet (and its been too hot to wear anything that form fitting in San Antonio). But I'm hopeful they'll look good with boots and a big open cardi to cover my bum.

    You look great!

  7. I sucked it up right away. The ones at Old Navy are cute and 30% off made the price right for the trend. It's a stupid marketing ploy anyway. There's not much difference than skinny jeans. Don't be sad. ;-) outfits are cute.

  8. I agree with you that the button and zipper makes them non-jeggings. I own several pairs of so-called button/zipper jeggings and they are definitely more like actual jeans with a little bit more stretch so they can truly be skinny jeans.

I'm firmly against the REAL jeggings that are not even real denim or are denim with an elastic waist...eww!

  9. Ha! I've been struggling with the skinny pants issue myself and this year I will fall victim to the Minnies. They actually looked ok on me.
