"topsy-bun" how-to

Lot's o' Qs about the Topsy-Bun.  Ask and ye shall receive.

Ahhhh the Topsy-Tail.  The perfect 'do to accompany your finest 100 Dalmatians nurse scrubs.

Now if you're job description does not include "manning the night shift at the Public Health Department during the years 1987 through 1993," fear not!  You can still do the Topsy whilst maintaining (or manetaining, perhaps?) some modern edge.  Well, maybe not "edge," but some modern "wtf do I do with this hot mess on my head when I need to be at work, like, 10 minutes ago?

{yeah, about those bad angles...}

Step 1: Make a loose, lowish bun (I prefer mine with a side-part) and secure with a hair rubber band.

Step 2: Divide your hair into two parts at the base of the bun (on the side of the rubber band closest to your skull), pulling gently to create a space to flip the bun into.

Step 3: Flip your bun up and through the divided hair, popping it free at the bottom.

Step 4: Tug the sides and mess up the bun a little if it feels too tight.

Step 5: Rock on with your bad self.

  6. Just have to say that I did this with my hair today and got lots of compliments on it. I work with a lot of women so we compliment each other a lot. But for me, I had to start with almost totally wet hair to get it to stay. And then add a bunch of bobby pins and hair spray. It looks a little more "up" than yours. My hair is really slick.

    Anyway, Thanks!
