your bum is showing

Today was my first day performing some personal assistant tasks for a family friend (re: no Anne Hathaway / Meryl Streep Dramatics happening here).  Suffice to say, its a pretty sweet temp gig to have whilst keeping an eye out for my next career move.  Plus?  An excuse to dress myself on a daily basis!  Woo hoo!

But this shall not go down as The Day I Ran Someone Else's Fun Errands!  No!

December 7, 2009 must henceforth be known as The Day I First Attempted To Wear Leggings As Pants!

I've seen this look all over the place on skinny, skinny girls but have been afraid to open my trunk and expose my junk, if you know what I mean.  But then I figured, hell, I work out in running tights without draping my arse in yards of excess fabric, so I might as well give this trend a go in the Real Life Clothes Department.

Honestly, eh.  Not sure if I pulled it off without looking tragically undressed.

One thing's for certain: Anthropologie's dressing rooms have the best lighting of all time.  No visible cellulite on the tum-tum and I saved myself $8 by plucking my own brows in the super-illuminating mirror (I do this in airplane bathrooms too - Best. Lighting. Ever.)!  Maybe this little bloggy's new name is ITPitAnthroDressingRooms!

What's your verdict?  Sporting Leggings as Pants this season?  Or are you a Tunics Only Type of Gal (or guy, we don't discriminate!)?

  1. I'm having trouble with leggings as pants too. I bought some and I haven't yet worn them because I'm... well... scared :-) I WILL try them out soon though! You look great though (as usual!). Glad you have a temp job and are keeping yourself busy.

  2. I think you look adorable and decidedly skinny! And yes, I sport leggings as pants occasionally, (or all the time if you count my J. Crew pixie pants as leggings).

  3. I like the look, but haven't tried it. Want to, but I must admit, I'm a little afraid.

  4. You look great in them!! I tried leggings as pants for the first time this weekend and it's hard to get used to. They are super comfortable but I was worried people were looking at me funny. I may just stick to wearing them with sweater dresses and tunics!

  5. You look fab! I am a big chicken and can't bring myself to try the leggings as pants look. Last week I just bought (and have now worn twice) a pair of running tights. Slowly I'll get there. Probably when they are no longer fashionable. Such is my life. No, I'm going to get my bum to Nordstrom and purchase the Hue leggings. Thanks for the inspiration!

  6. Super cute. I think you pulled the leggings off quite nicely. I love Hue leggings--great price & good quality. I have some junk in my trunk, so I have to wear a top that at least cover my boohonkus.

Hang in there with the career stuff. Most people change careers 5-6 times in their lifetime. I was an OR nurse, then got a B.S. in interior design, was a medical sales rep, had a children's store...you name it. You'll probably make contacts in your temp job that you never dreamed of. Good luck!

  7. I personally am taking a stand against this look, even if I see other people looking cute in it (like you). I think I look way to fashion victim. And ya know, BUBBLE BUTT OF DEATH.

  8. I actually had the same thoughts about it... I wear running tights every day with tshirts, surely I can suck it up and wear leggings.
Mostly because I don't like the idea of wearing leggings with dresses... that's what tights are for! I want legging for their own thing, ya know?

Today I wore leggings as pants with a long sweater. Butt was covered, but not much longer than that. I don't feel like it's any different than wearing yoga pants around.

    I think you rocked it.

  9. I'm scared to try it to! But, more importantly, don't go back to being a lawyer. You need to do something more fabulous with your creative, witty self! So, here's to finding a job that you love, working for people who would be lucky to be graced with your lovely presence everyday! :)

  11. I think you can pull it off! Well done! I always end up looking like I'm wearing PJs in public when I do this...

BTW, I'm in love with those boots!

  14. You look great!!! You always look great though. And yay for being able to dress how you want....and that's great that you have a little somethin' somethin' goin' on whilst looking for the next big thing, so to speak.

  15. I wore it for the first time too on Sunday. I'm so short and my thighs aren't awesome so I wasn't thrilled with it. Also highly conscious of CT. You can figure that out.

  16. I have way too much junk in the trunk to sport leggings as pants. I'm a tunic only kind of girl. But, I have no doubts that you pulled it off!

  17. I think you look great! Leggings are such a chic and easy way to look pulled together while staying comfortable. Perfect look for running around town, doing errands, etc. Own it, girlfriend!

  18. I think you rocked it. My husband threatened to disown me if I ever wore legging...boo to that.

  19. I want to see the outfit that you couldn't pass as a lawyer in at the library.

  20. you look great in your leggings! i'm afraid to try the look because i can't figure out what kind of ...err... undergarments to wear. i don't want VPLs showing everywhere but the obvious alternative would enhance the butt shakage. if you have any suggestions, i'd love to hear!

  21. If I were young and had the body...yes yes. So you should wear everything you can!!

  22. I think you looked great! I adore leggings/ tights. I am violently opposed to "work" pants..they never look good on me (high waste and super long legs) because they always end up being too short or bunching weird.
Anyways, leggings help my wardrobe go from fall to winter. I haven't bared my rear-end YET. I'm thinking it's coming. This weekend I was thinking about sporting a long button down with legging and boots. Rachel Zoe says it's chic so I"m going for it!

(sorry for the super long comment!) =)

  23. Thank you! My bum WAS showing! How embarrassing!

  24. I don't care who's wearing it. It's just a big NO in my book. But that's just my opinion.

  25. As a counselor, I just don't think my clients would appreciate tights as pants. But I have to err on the conservative side. How did you feel in them all day? Comfortable?
